🌟 Our Goal: Your 5-Star Experience
At Rare Rentals, we’re dedicated to creating a memorable stay that earns your 5-star review. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your time at Evergreen Castle even better!
Evergreen’s immediate neighborhood has the real mountain-town feel: tall pines, winding roads, and scattered homes that feel tucked into the forest rather than on a grid, with a relaxed, friend-to-friend vibe rather than a busy suburban scene. Locals here are a mix of outdoor lovers, long-time residents, families and retirees who head down to Evergreen Lake or into the woods for hikes and wildlife sightings on most days; you’ll often see deer or even elk grazing nearby and neighbors chatting at the coffee shop or lake trailhead. The community is known for being safe, quiet, and tightly knit, with low crime and people who treat this as more of a refuge than a quick weekend stop, so it’s normal to wave at folks walking dogs or heading out for a morning trail run. There’s a distinct sense of small-town charm here — friendly faces, outdoor activity at every turn, and a genuine appreciation for living in the Colorado mountains.
Getting around Evergreen is pretty simple, but it’s definitely more of a “car town” than a place where you rely on public transit. Most visitors drive since everything—from the lake to the trailheads to downtown coffee spots—is spread out through the hills. Parking is usually easy, whether you’re heading into town or stopping at parks and trailheads, though it can get a little busier on sunny weekends. Rideshares exist but can be hit-or-miss because of the mountain layout, so it’s better to think of them as a backup rather than your main plan. The nice thing is that once you’re here, the drives are short, scenic, and relaxed, and if you like walking, the quiet forested roads make for great morning strolls even if they’re not exactly designed for errands on foot.

😎 What’s Evergreen, CO all about?
Evergreen is one of those Colorado towns that feels peaceful the moment you arrive—surrounded by tall pines, quiet hillsides, and that crisp mountain air that makes you want to slow down a bit. The lake is a true centerpiece here, with ice-skating in winter and paddleboarding in summer, and the nearby trails wind through rock formations and meadows that feel surprisingly wild for being so close to Denver. The whole town has this easygoing, artsy vibe—local coffee shops, small galleries, live music at Little Bear Saloon—mixed with a strong sense of community. It’s the kind of place where you can spend the morning hiking, the afternoon wandering through locally owned shops, and the evening watching deer wander past like it’s completely normal.

What a great get a way!! So quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed all the games and the outdoor ping pong. My 4 year old grand-daughter really enjoyed all secret hiding places. We all took turns cooking in the Kitchen, that had everything we needed available and we ate outside at the big table for all our meals. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Thanks for letting us come and relax at your place.
We had a lovely 2 days at The Castle celebrating our son’s birthday taking in a concert at Red Rocks. The house was clean, cozy & uniquely fun! Chris was always responsive & helpful! A few things to note: the driveway is a bit rough to get up. We did have a camper van & a Subaru; the “studio” bedroom, although adorable, is a ways from the house with no bathroom (which made it unusable for our family); the tub in the main house (only place to shower) is the old fashion, deep claw-foot style and a bit challenging for many to climb in & out of. We are cooks and the kitchen was in need of pans & bakeware which Chris was happy to know and will most likely improve. Aside from these few minor inconveniences we did have a really nice stay and absolutely loved the sauna! A real bonus!!
